Περιγραφή

This book is the first full-scale study of tragic irony to appear in English, offering not only a detailed discussion of the types of the different ironizing devices employed by Greek dramatists in their plays but also an in-depth analysis of particular irony-laden scenes and passages. It is to be hoped, therefore, that this examination of tragic irony in Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides will bolster the value of the current argument, widely accepted by the vast majority of critics, that irony-informed perspectives may differently illuminate the tragic palys.
